The challenge
The European Truck Challenge (ETC) is a new test format comparing standard tractors from different manufacturers. The test intends to deliver solid arguments for truck buyers.

ETC considers trucks first of all as investment goods. Therefore we focus on three main criteria:

• Vehicle costs (cost of operation),
• Fuel consumption,
• Repair costs apart from regular maintenance.

There will be one winner:
the the most economical tractor in the 420 hp range

Goals of ETC

• Determination of relevant fuel consumption of standard tractors on a defined test route as central base values for cost-efficiency calculation.
  
  
• Determination of the road performance on simple, medium and difficult motorway (Autobahn) to classify the test vehicles concerning their suitability for different forms of use.
  
  
• Creation of an experience base for the evaluation of test trucks concerning their basic functions of mode and operation.
